The train journey we were told to avoid! πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

When six 1st Class tickets from CT to Simonstown return only cost Β£7.50 in total – we should have maybe listened to the warnings – but we loved it!! Initially told the wrong platform, we were on the first train for 3 stops before Tony realised we were going the wrong way! This train made train travel in the UK feel like the Orient Express! We got off, crossed the track and saw school boys darting between the carriages, hanging on to rails on the outside of the train😳! We then met Ivan – begging for money – we gave him some and then listened to his philosophy on life for about 30 mins before he asked us for money again! A real character! The train arrived after an hour, with no visible signs of 1st class carriages, so we joined the buskers, tomato sellers, sweet vendor, school kids, grannies and a couple of dodgy looking geezers for the 2 hour trip. For the last hour however the train was solely ours – this must have been the 1st class experience! We were heading to see the penguins at Boulders Beach – a lovely Town with great fish and chips and a large colony of penguins – see photos for cute penguin shots!!!
